“True Security is a Science”
GMI provides a comprehensive security assessment performed by Certified Protection Professionals. These professionals will utilize the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), and Security in Depth to generate the assessment.
Crime Prevention Through
Environmental Design
CPTED is a comprehensive evaluation of the existing environment surrounding a facility. CPTED is based on a set of four design and usage concepts that include Natural Surveillance, Natural Access Control, Territorial Reinforcement, and Target Hardening. CPTED analysis can lead to a reduction in the incidence and fear of crime, and an improvement in the quality of life. CPTED helps to deter crimes of opportunity by making it more difficult for an offender to commit a crime and escape without being stopped or detected.
The photos show an example of a successful CPTED Design. A Class A building with close proximity to the freeway should employ parking control protection.
Security In Depth
Security In Depth is based on the philosophy that the more perimeters placed around an asset the more secure it will be.
A perimeter should Deter, Delay, Deny or Detect access to an asset.
Assets can be Physical Property, Human Assets( staff, visitors, customers) or Intellectual Assets(ideas, data, information).
Perimeters can be concealed, like a proximity card access systems so as not to impact the convenience of entry into an area or placed on display like a barbed wire fence to provide a greater sense of awareness of the perimeter. Perimeters must be integrated with each other in order to be most effective.
